The Stress Paradox: 1kg Down!

This week was the busiest of the year—end-of-year reconciliations, endless spreadsheets, and far too much time at my desk. Usually, this is where health goals go to die. At least that was the case in the previous year.

To be honest, the first week of this “crunch period” really took its toll. By February 8th, I saw the numbers on the scale creep up from 117.1kg to 117.5kg. It was a frustrating reminder of how stress and sedentary desk time can stall momentum.

But as of yesterday, February 15th, the data told a different story.

The Stats:

  • Current Weight: 116.5kg (A 1kg drop since last Monday!)
  • Total Progress: 3.5kg gone since January 7th.
  • The Pivot: My daily steps dropped to ~5,500 (half my usual), but I focused on what I could control: recovery and nutrition

The Big Lesson: Progress isn’t always a straight line. I had to push through a week of gains to get to this breakthrough. While I couldn’t hit the pavement for long walks, the “forced rest” and sticking to my Huel routine allowed my body to finally reset and drop the weight.

I’m now 6 weeks into the #RoadTo50. 26.5kg to go until I hit that 90kg goal. It’s a marathon, not a sprint, and even the “up” weeks are just part of the data set.
